Interview with Costume Designer Eulyn Womble From The Walking Dead

A interview conducted by AMC on the set of The Walking Dead discussing customer design. Featured on AMC's website http://blogs.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/2012/08/eulyn-womble-interview.php

Q: What can you tell us about Michonne's wardrobe? Where did you find her cape?

A: Oh my gosh. So much fun to do... I didn't want to get too futuristic with the cape. That's why we used burlap. I think it just adds just nice texture and a great silhouette. Her boots are amazing. They have studs on them. Everything she has she can be used to kill zombies.

Q: How about the Governor?

A: [David's] gorgeous and he has a presence. He doesn't need a whole lot. I wanted him to look like the everyman but with a little bit of edginess... He has a couple of signature pieces that look like modern day armor I suppose. He has a vest... and then I've introduced a coat. I [want people] to question why he has too many nice things compared to what his people have.

Q: You're originally from Cape Town, South Africa, home of the Great White Shark. Do you have an opinion on the infamous Shark vs. Zombie battle in the Italian film Zombie? Who should win?

A: [Laughs] I think probably the zombie because they just don't stop. The shark is practically prehistoric so it probably doesn't know to bite it in the head, to pierce it right in the brain to stop it. It would probably swallow the zombie whole and get eaten from the inside out.

Q: If you were living in a zombie apocalypse, what items of clothing would you never leave home without?

A: Hershel's pants, Michonne's vest, Maggie's tank top, and it would be a toss up between Glenn's boots and Michonne's boots because they're both pretty hardcore. And Dale's hat!

Should The Flashbacks In The Walking Dead Continue?

I feel spilt on an issue and I thought I would open it up for discussion. I personally enjoy the flashbacks during The Walking Dead. They fill in gaps in the story without having one large prequel episode. I wonder for season three if they will continue? Should they continue? Is it better to leave new characters like the Governor and Michonne more of a mystery to the TV audience? Do we know enough at this point and should look to the future rather then the past?

One part of me thinks they should continue, I like to see what drives our characters to do what they do. One of my favorite parts of The Walking Dead is examining the human behavior of the characters. The back story contributes to the examination of the characters actions.

The other part of me wants them to do less talking and more ZOMBIE BASHIN.

What do you think?

The Batcave From the Dark Knight Rises, Missing something?

A few months before the Dark Knight Rises was released, pictures came out that were being labeled as the Batcave from The Dark Knight Rises. It turns out they were not pictures of the Batcave, but is anyone wishing the batcave looked like it instead of what it was?
What we thought...

‘Iron Man 3′: Don Cheadle On War Machine & Iron Man

Don Cheadle had a few things to say at comic con this year about Iron Man 3.

“Everything is happening for War Machine. His suit goes through a couple of iterations and developments and gets kind of a makeover.”

“It’s getting more uncomfortable. I think there is an inverse logic to that but it seems to be happening.”

“I’m wearing some suits yes. I can’t give it all away but I have to put metal on.”

“He gets to branch out a little bit more in this movie but the main component of this character is his relationship with Tony. That gets a little bit more expansive in this one too. As Shane (Black) is fond of saying we have a private sector Iron Man with Tony and now we have a military Iron Man with War Machine, and I like the suit envy that they have with each other and the professional jealousy that goes back to friendship. We keep exploring that stuff and this movie is also kind of wall-to-wall action, so it definitely rivals the other two.”

“I think this film is a little bit grittier. The villains aren’t all wearing costumes. So you’re dealing with human beings and I think that always makes it a little more of a touchstone to reality than when the sky opens up and people come out of it with swords. That’s great too, but this is just a little bit different.”

“I think it’s that man at the center of it, Robert Downey Jr., he’s obviously a really strong actor and when you bring that into a franchise like this I think it gives a level of veracity and a level of groundedness so it doesn’t feel like some flighty ephemeral thing. It’s like ‘oh, that’s a real person inside of there and a person with real issues.’ I think that contrast when you see that guy flying around and blowing things up, it makes it more grounded.”
